A Gallon of vinegar getting dumped into the sandbox

Ever had a cat poop in your kids sandbox?

I haven’t! And this is how. Vinegar. And Cinnamon. Yep. That’s it. Lets get into it. We have neighborhood cats, and all kinds of wildlife around, I mean everything from bears to bunnies. You name it, it’s roaming near us or directly in our yard. And we have never had any scat or poop in our sandbox. We did have ants one year, and had to excavate the entire sandbox, treat them and then refill. It was not a fun time. 0/10. Do NOT recommend. That was the motivation to figure out how to keep our giant, uncovered sandbox clean. Vinegar acts as a cleansing agent, and well, we all know that it stinks for a hot minute so there’s that. And cinnamon is a giant scent deterrent for most other animals. And especially ants. The ants do NOT like cinnamon and will stay far far away.

We’ve been doing this for at least three years with no ants, no animals, no poop, no scat. Just sand and toys for the kids to play in

Happy Sandbox Season!
